Frozen Charlotte Dolls- The Name 'Frozen Charlotte' originates from a folk ballad called "A Corpse Going to a Ball".
It tells a tale of a woman named Charlotte who wouldn't cover her pretty dress with a coat on her way to a ball, and freezes to death on the sleigh ride there. Her sweetheart Charles finds her frozen body and dies from a broken heart.
These porcelain dolls were often baked into puddings & cakes around the Victorian era.
Originally made in Germany from the 1850's on, they have become a popular collectors item.
